MTV today announced that electro-pop duo group 3OH!3 will serve as the latest guest music supervisors for the network as they personally select songs for the May 15 episode of "The Real World: Portland" airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT. In the eighth episode of the season, Nia loses a fight with a sex toy; Jessica and Nia confront Averey and the chaos that ensues afterwards doesn't end until Johnny's pants hit the floor. Meanwhile, after slacking on her job, Nia gets fired. 3OH!3 selected songs for pivotal scenes throughout the episode. Check out the band in a hilarious interview on their experience as music supervisors for the episode, here.
In addition to 3OH!3's hit single, "Back To Life," the May 15 episode of "The Real World: Portland" will feature music from up and coming artists, including Wuki ("Hazard"), Swing Hero ("Basement"), DWNTWN ("Compact Disco"), Black Light Dinner Party ("Older Together"), and many more.
"I remember when I was 16 watching "The Real World" and hearing
DJ Shadow come on in the background," says Sean Foreman. It was really cool to hear one of my favorite producers/DJs on the show. So when we were asked to be music supervisors for the show it was like going full circle. It was awesome to showcase a bunch of bands and music that we really like and hopefully it fits the craziness of "The Real World: Portland."
To gear fans up for this episode,
MTV will feature 3OH!3 in multiple on air spots and increased video rotation of the groups music videos on the channel. Additionally, Buzzworthy will feature an exclusive interview with 3OH!3 immediately following the episode.
Photo Finish Records/Atlantic Records artists 3OH!3's highly anticipated album OMENS goes on sale on June 18 and features hit singles "You're Gonna Love This," "Youngblood," and "Back to Life."
This season on "The Real World: Portland" eight strangers and house mutt Daisy, quickly immerse themselves in Portland culture, but more importantly, immerse themselves in each other's lives. Whether it's the insatiable beauty who falls fast for the Boston boy next door or the jumping-up-and-down-on-the-couch argument between an overconfident hothead and a naïve Southern Belle, these roommates can't seem to get out of each other's heads or beds. And when one roommate leaves early, the already volatile
Nature of the house gets cranked up to a feverpitch as the new roommate-quite possibly the most outrageous in Real World history-makes it her mission to bring down one of the guys by any means necessary-including psychological, sexual warfare.
"The Real World" was created for
MTV by Jonathan Murray and Mary Ellis-Bunim of Bunim/Murray Productions. Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein and Jim Johnston serve as Executive Producers of "The Real World: Portland." Jackie French is the
MTV Executive overseeing the project.
Rochelle Holguin is the
Vice President Creative Music Integration for MTV. Dave Stone is Senior
Vice President Music Development for Bunim/Murray.
