Comedy Central welcomes Ed Helms back home. Nearly a decade after completing a tour of duty on THE DAILY SHOW with Jon Stewart, Helms returns to the #1 brand in comedy to bring viewers a hilarious satirical news special centered around fake news and the current political climate. THE FAKE NEWS WITH TED NELMS premieres on Wednesday, December 13 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.

Said Helms, "So thrilled to be returning to Comedy Central after all these years for my new special The Fake News with Ted Nelms. Obviously there are lot of news organizations out there just making up a bunch of crap and calling it news. But unlike those others, we're doing it better, faker, and stupider. And we're joking."

The Fake News with Ted Nelms is exactly what it sounds like; ridiculous, made-up news that closely resembles actual news, delivered by a ridiculous, made-up anchor who closely resembles Ed Helms. It's a fast-paced one-hour special that looks like CNN with the volume off, but with the volume on is a constant stream of jokes delivered with such extreme deadpan gravitas it'll ruin viewers capacity to watch the REAL NEWS ever again without laughing. Led by Helms as Nelms, the special skewers the way news is delivered by emptying out the format and refilling it with insanity, silliness, and absolutely no factual content, throwing all its resources into the ongoing national crisis of President Trump getting stuck in an abandoned well. Because this is The Fake News.

The Fake News with Ted Nelms is executive produced by Pacific Electric Picture Company's Helms and Mike Falbo, as well as Nelson Walters. Elliott Kalan (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) serves as head writer and co-executive producer.

Jonas Larsen and Christian McLaughlin are the Executives in Charge for Comedy Central.

Ed Helms has established himself as one of Hollywood's most exciting talents as an actor, writer, producer and comedian, dominating audiences with his scene-stealing roles on the big and small screen. He can be seen in the upcoming comedy Father Figures opposite Owen Wilson, slated for December 22, 2017. He recently wrapped production on Jeff Tomsic's comedy, Tag, opposite Jeremy Renner, Isla Fisher, and Jon Hamm.

Helms is best known for his standout performances in a diverse compilation of projects, including his prolific work as a correspondent on Comedy Central's THE DAILY SHOW with Jon Stewart; his memorable role as 'Andy Bernard' on NBC's critically acclaimed comedy The Office alongside fellow Daily Show alum, Steve Carell; and striking gold with his leading comedic role in The Hangover. Additional recent credits include Captain Underpants; Lake Bell's I Do...Until I Don't; Jessie Nelson's Love the Coopers; and Vacation. He also served as an Executive Producer on Netflix's A Futile and Stupid Gesture, as well as the box office hit Central Intelligence.
