Ed Asner to Star in Lifetime Christmas Movie PAPA NOEL?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Broadway's Ed Asner will star in the upcoming Lifetime Christmas movie PAPA NOEL alongside Markie Post.

Post will play a woman named Lilly, opposite Asner in the title role, in the New Orleans-themed holiday film. Leslie Hope (24) is set to direct the script from Brian D. Young.

Asner is no stranger to playing Santa Claus, having previously appeared in Elf, Regular Show, Olive, the Other Reindeer and The Story of Santa Claus. Asner will next be seen in the films The Games Maker, Through Maria's Eyes and The Home. Asner last appeared on Broadway in Grace, as well as Born Yesterday, Face of a Hero and Threepenny Opera.

More recent TV credits include: The Trials of Rosie O'Neill, Hearts Afire, Batman, Thunder Alley, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Gargoyles, Freakazoid!, Spider-Man, The Closer, Superman, Max Steel, ER, The Practice, Center of the Universe, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Line, The Boondocks, Working Class, The Cleveland Show and more.

The movie will air on Lifetime during the holiday season, with an official broadcast date to be determined.
