Festival returns 25th to 29th September
Eastleigh Film Festival (EFF), curated by The Point, returns for a fifth year, Monday 25th to Saturday 29th September.
The popular event has garnered a reputation for putting the fun back into going to the movies by screening cult, classic and iconic movies in unique locations to match. Featuring indoor and outdoor cinema with a twist, the festival is now in its fifth year following a successful week in 2016 which saw hundreds of people flock to Eastleigh for film fun.
Curators at The Point will screen 15 films across six days and 11 venues, visiting new businesses for bespoke mini screenings of hand-picked films; venturing into popular outdoor locations; and bringing much-loved movies back to the big-screen.
As part of the full programme, this year's Eastleigh Film Festival presents Strong Women in Film; a new-for-2018 strand that celebrates the brilliant women that make up the film industry. To support organisers in their celebration of women - during the timely centenary of 100 years of Suffrage - Eastleigh Spitfires - a division of the Hampshire Women's Institute - are joining the festival this September.
"Eastleigh Spitfires WI are proud to be involved in the 2018 Eastleigh Film Festival's Strong Women in Film strand, in the year of THE 100 Years of Suffrage and Centenary of the formation of the Hampshire WI." - WI President, Chrissie Talbot
Curators at The Point are delighted to announce the films being screened as part of the strand are: Greta Gerwig's Oscar-nominated drama Lady Bird, featuring a Q&A with two prominent female figures from the film industry; musical Chicago, to be screened With Dinner at The Concorde Club; Little Women at Eastleigh Sewing Centre; and Steel Magnolias at Quiffy's Hairdressers.
Organisers are also excited to announce the first of two large-scale headlining films to top the programme at this year's EFF with the critically-acclaimed Cabin in the Woods. The film will be screened outside at Itchen Valley Country Park following a sell-out screening of The Blair Witch Project at the site in 2016.
