TVGuide.com reports that Jeff Collins, Executive Producer of the Lifetime series 'Dance Moms' is developing a new reality show which will feature "extreme parenting" techniques, including breast-feeding older children.
Collins told Yahoo! that the inspiration for the series was a recent Time magazine cover which depicted a mother breast feeding her 3-year-old son. "That cover proves what I've been saying for the last year — America has become a country of extremes. Breast-feeding beyond infancy is just one of the topics we plan to cover," he says. "We've discovered people are raising kids in all kinds of un-traditional ways these days and some people find their methods to be extreme."
The EP will follow the format of Lifetime's Dance Mom, and focus on controversial methods of parenting. "I'm interested in peeling back the curtain to look at choices other people make that will have a huge impact on their children or their lives. I'm fascinated by the way other people raise their children. I grew up in a very conservative small town and everyone kind of raised their kids with the exact same values so it's interesting to me to see so many people breaking the mold of tradition."
Collins says his Production Company, Collins Avenue Productions, is "in negotiations with several networks" for the series which will most likely premiere this fall.
