ESPN's 'State Farm Home Run Derby' Telecast Delivers 6.7 M Viewers

Based on fast national ratings, ESPN's telecast of the 2011 State Farm Home Run Derby - won by New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano - averaged 6,686,000 viewers, an increase of four percent compared to last year's 6,418,000 viewers. The corresponding 4.7 rating was up two percent over last year's 4.6 rating, according to Nielsen. The rating for the State Farm Home Run Derby telecast peaked with a 5.1 from 9:30-10 p.m. ET.

The top five metered markets for the Derby were Boston (10.3), Milwaukee (9.3), Providence (8.4), St. Louis (7.8) and Hartford/New Haven (7.5). Phoenix, the host city, registered a 6.3 rating and New York posted a 6.1, both ranking in the top 10.

ESPN Digital Media's average minute audience across the ESPN.com MLB section, Fantasy Baseball, ESPN Mobile Web MLB section and Apps, and ESPN3.com was up 15 percent compared to last year for the Home Run Derby. The average minute audience to the MLB section on ESPN.com and the ESPN Mobile Web was up 17 percent and 20 percent, respectively, compared to 2010.

Additionally, unique viewers to the 2011 State Farm Home Run Derby on ESPN3.com were up 21 percent compared to last year, with an average time spent of 52 minutes per unique viewer.
