Monday night's ESPN MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game - a Chicago Bears' 27-19 road victory over the New York Jets - ranked as the top telecast of the night across cable and broadcast among the key male demos and adults 18-34, helping ESPN win the night among all networks in households, as well as all key male and adult demos.
The game averaged an 8.4 household US rating, representing 9,766,000 households and 13,265,000 viewers (P2+), according to Nielsen. It peaked from 9:15-10 p.m. at a 9.6 rating, and with 15,529,000 viewers.
In Chicago, the game delivered a 17.5 rating on
ESPN and a 14.6 on WCIU-IND, for a combined 32.1 rating in the market. In New York, the game delivered a 8.1 rating on
ESPN and a 3.6 on WPIX-CW, for a combined 11.7 rating in the market. (Note: there was a correction to the metered market ratings previously reported by
ESPN on Tuesday morning)
The top 10 metered markets (in addition to the markets of the competing teams) included: Las Vegas (14.8), San Diego (14.0), New Orleans (13.1), Phoenix (12.7), Norfolk (12.4), Baltimore (11.1), Richmond (11.0), Indianapolis (10.8), Jacksonville (10.6) and West Palm Beach (10.6).
Through the first three weeks (four games), ESPN's
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is averaging an 8.3 household US rating; 9,637,000 households and 13,353,000 viewers.

ESPN Deportes, ESPN's Spanish-language sports network, also televised the Bears-Jets MNF game - a NFL Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration game. The telecast averaged a 0.4 Hispanic Household US rating with 83,000 Hispanic viewers (P2+), an increase of 84 percent over the Week 4 game (Raiders vs. Broncos) last year. ESPN DEPORTES is averaging a 0.3 Hispanic Household US rating with 84,000 Hispanic viewers (P2+), increases of 50 percent and 147 percent, respectively, from the same period in 2013.
ESPN Digital
The WatchESPN simulcast of the game reached an additional 368,000 unique viewers (up 92 percent compared to week 3 last year) while logging 26 million minutes viewed (up 98 percent). The game had an average minute audience of 125,000 (up 85 percent).
Next week, ESPN's MNF returns with Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs hosting Tom Brady and the New England Patriots at 8:15 p.m. ET (kickoff at 8:30 p.m.).
