Leading independent studio E1 Entertainment has inked a two year television production deal with top screenwriter David Hayter and his producing partner Benedict Carver.

Under the agreement, E1 will have first look at all projects Hayter and Carver develop through their Production Company, Dark Hero Studios. The deal covers a broad range of projects, including scripted shows for network, cable and syndication. Dark Hero will be based out of E1's Los Angeles offices.

David Hayter is one of the most sought after screenwriters in Hollywood, with credits that include X-Men, X2: X-Men United, The Scorpion King and Watchmen. In 2009, Hayter and Carver formed Los Angeles-based Dark Hero Studios to produce feature films, television programming, Internet content and videogames in the action, sci-fi and horror genres. Dark Hero is currently prepping Hayter's directorial debut, Wolves.

Benedict Carver, a former reporter for Variety and Senior Vice President at Screen Gems, has produced a string of genre films, including Doomsday, directed by Neil Marshall. He recently exec produced Beat the World, which E1 Entertainment has acquired for distribution in several markets including Canada, Scandinavia and the UK.

The first project on Dark Hero's production slate is the recently announced television series Push. Based on Summit Entertainment's 2009 feature film, Push will be jointly developed and produced with Summit Entertainment, Dark Hero and E1. The series marks Summit's first foray into television and will be based on the science fiction thriller which centers on people with paranormal powers who band together to take down a corrupt government agency. Hayter will script the series pilot with Carver on board, along with E1's John Morayniss and Noreen Halpern serving as executive producers.

"E1 is thrilled to partner creatively with David and Benedict. David has a truly unique voice and has created incredible, unforgettable worlds in so many features. Crossing that voice over into television with the benefit of E1's development strengths is sure to produce something innovative and amazing", commented Noreen Halpern, President of Dramatic Programming, E1 Television.

"I am delighted to formalize Dark Hero's relationship with E1." said Hayter. "Given my Canadian citizenship and our desire to participate in the international co-production arena, we think E1 is the ideal partner for Dark Hero Television."
