E! has crowned Elizabeth Hurley as queen.

According to Deadline, the famed British actress has been tapped to lead the upcoming scripted drama pilot THE ROYALS from ONE TREE HILL's Mark Schwahn.

The project follows "a fictional royal family informed by the regal opulence of the British monarchy and framed by William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Part fairy tale, part cautionary tale, The Royals is described as a tale of men and women corrupted by power, wealth and desire."

Hurley will play Queen Helena in the series, a "sexy, devious and conflicted" woman who's forced who maintain the reputation of her royal family - while trying to cope with her oldest son's death, her waning husband, and her middle son, who's recently begun dating a young American woman.

THE ROYALS comes from Lionsgate TV, Schwahn, Brian Robbins, and Joe Davola. Schwan will take on the writing duties.
