Dolphin Films, the feature division of powerhouse family content creator Dolphin Entertainment, announced the launch of its newly formed international sales operation, Dolphin Films International, which will add global scale to its move into theatrical output. Through a multi-year partnership with IM Global, a worldwide leader in film distribution and sales, Dolphin Films International will bring its signature family-based entertainment to theatrical distributors around the world. The inaugural film under the Dolphin Films International banner will be "Max Steel," a live action, feature-length origin story based on the world-renowned Mattel franchise, which will be showcased with IM Global and Mattel at the 2014 European Film Market in Berlin, February 6-14.

Christine Perrin-Stocco, who has successfully led all of Dolphin's international sales for the past 12 years, will expand her role to helm the new division. Under Perrin-Stocco's leadership, the family-friendly entertainment company has distributed numerous projects to more than 100 territories reaching upwards of 300 million viewers, including the Primetime Emmy® Award-nominated Nickelodeon hit series "Zoey 101," and its Streamy Award-winning digital project "Cybergeddon."

Under the Dolphin Films International venture, IM Global will provide international sales, marketing, publicity, technical operations, legal and accounting support, lending the operation a significant physical presence at major film festivals and markets as well as access to distribution relationships around the globe. The venture enhances IM Global's status as one of the film industry's largest sales and distribution platforms. A subsidiary of India conglomerate Reliance ADA, IM Global has its own slate of 15-20 films per year. In addition, the company is a partner in Latin films sales company Mundial, has a worldwide distribution services arrangement with Jason Blum's Blumhouse International, and operates leading pan-Asian rights acquisitions vehicle Apsara Distribution.

"Family films drive the leading box office results worldwide. We're thrilled to partner with IM Global and provide international distributors with powerful, Branded films the entire family can enjoy," said Bill O'Dowd, CEO, Dolphin Films. "We couldn't be happier to launch the division with 'Max Steel,' a franchise film with studio clout that comes with the added value of being a successful Mattel property. I'm confident that Christine Perrin-Stocco will achieve the same success leading Dolphin Films International as she did propelling our TV and digital business overseas."

"Quality family films are a much-needed product in the international marketplace, and we're excited to partner with Dolphin Films International to capitalize on this demand," said Stuart Ford, CEO, IM Global. "We look forward to their tentpole film 'Max Steel,' which has all the earmarks of a huge success for independent distributors around the globe."

As fans of the franchise know, the story centers on teenager Max McGrath™ and alien companion Steel, who combine special turbo-energy powers to create the superhero Max Steel™. "Max Steel" is being produced by Dolphin Films and Mattel, and is slated for a wide theatrical release. It is being penned by Marvel Studios veteran Christopher Yost ("Thor: The Dark World") and directed by 2013 Streamy Award-winning best director Stewart Hendler ("Halo," "H+"). The film will be released by Open Road Films in the U.S. in late 2014.
