Disney XD has greenlit a second season of its live-action sci-fi adventure series "MECH-X4" ahead of the series debut in two episodes simulcast SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12 (8:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Beginning FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, a preview episode debuts on multiple platforms including the Disney XD App, Disney XD VOD and the Disney XD Youtube Channel. Production for the second season of "MECH X4" begins later this month. The announcement was made today by Adam Bonnett, executive vice president, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide.
Ryan Walker, a freshman at Bay City High, discovers he is a "technopath" with the extraordinary ability to control technology with his mind. His superpower mysteriously awakens a 150-foot robot known as MECH-X4 and Ryan can command its every move. When another monster suddenly begins to attack Bay City High, Ryan recruits his two best friends and older brother to help him operate the robot's high-tech defense system while he pilots MECH-X4. This team of unlikely heroes must quickly learn to work together under dire circumstances in order to save their school, and ultimately the world, from mass destruction.
In making the announcement, Bonnett said, "The creative vision for the series has been clear from the get-go. We're excited to launch this new genre of epic action-adventure storytelling that will undoubtedly be a water cooler show for kids." He added, "This is the first live-action series for
Disney XD that stars a 150-foot giant robot."
Newcomer Nathaniel James Potvin stars as Ryan Walker. Also starring are Raymond Cham ("Teen Beach 2") as Ryan's older brother Mark, the team's mechanic; Kamran Lucas ("Girl Meets World") as Ryan's friend Harris who operates MECH-X4's defense systems; and Pearce Joza ("Lab Rats") as Ryan's friend Spyder who controls the robot's weapons. Alyssa Jirrels ("Girl Meets World") will be featured in season one of the series and will join the cast as a series regular in the second season of "MECH-X4."
"MECH-X4" was created by executive producer Steve Marmel ("Sonny with a Chance"). Anupam Nigam ("Defiance"), Brian Hamilton ("Robson Arms") and Zach Lipovsky ("Dead Rising: Watchtower") also serve as executive producers. "MECH-X4" is a production of Bay City Productions, Ltd., a subsidiary of Omnifilm Entertainment, Ltd.
