Ancient relics, mythical cities and buried treasure. These are all things that maps have been used to find, a tried and true method for locating lost objects. In a new Discovery and Science Channel series, urban explorer Justin Fornal will use detailed historical maps along with the latest in high tech imaging to investigate mysteries that have remained elusive to others. UNCHARTED (wt) will premiere in fourth quarter 2019.
"With the use of old-school maps and the latest technology, Justin may have found just the right combination of tools to find the answers to mysteries that others before them have come up short in solving," said Marc Etkind, General Manager, Science Channel.
Though no one map holds the whole picture of these mysteries, Justin will cross-reference the information held within them, spurring the pair to launch new, in-depth investigations. Expert researchers and high-tech tools will help locate the mythical outposts detailed in these maps and unravel the mysteries behind their disappearances. Among the stories that Justin will attempt to solve are the legend of a treasure ship buried in the middle of a California desert, and the question of whether the Knights Templar secretly brought their treasure to the New World a century before Columbus's voyage to America.
Justin Fornal is an international explorer and cultural detective. In June of 2018 he was listed as the #3 most adventurous person in the world right now' by Men's Journal. Justin specializes in investigating indigenous traditions and historical mysteries around the world. In 2016 he tracked down the lost skull of African American slave rebellion leader Nat Turner and repatriated it to the Turner descendants.
