Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, invites Principals and Vice-Principals across NORTH AMERICA to participate in one of nine Regional Principal Summits being held in the United States and Canada this year. A series of free, full-day professional development events, Discovery Education's Regional Principal Summits will introduce attendees to a host of new strategies for using technology to energize and refine their role as lead learners and will offer opportunities for Principals and Vice-Principals to explore ways to create dynamic digital learning environments in their schools.

The first two Regional Principal Summits will be held simultaneously on April 28th in Columbia, South Carolina and Arlington Heights, Illinois. Following a continental breakfast, each Summit will begin with opening remarks from the host and a motivational session to frame the day, which will be followed by breakout sessions presented by area school leaders. Discovery Education will provide lunch on-site, and during this time attendees can reflect on the morning sessions and network with their fellow Principals and Vice-Principals.

In the afternoon, attendees will hear about a host of regional topics from a featured local Principal and will learn about new resources for making the transition from using hardcopy textbooks as a core instructional resource to using dynamic digital content to engage students and transform teaching and learning. "As a Principal seeking to build a digital culture at my school, I have unique professional development needs," said Rachael Postle-Brown from Pinewood Elementary School at Jenison Public Schools in Michigan. "I am looking forward to attending one of Discovery Education's Regional Principal Summits, as these events will enhance my ability to help educators at my school create the modern digital classrooms that assist students in developing the skills they need for college, careers, and citizenship."

The Regional Principal Summits are organized by the Discovery Education Community. A global community of education professionals that connects members across school systems and around the world, the Discovery Education Community leverages a blend of social media, virtual conferences, and in-person events to foster valuable networking, idea sharing, and inspiration among participants.

"Discovery Education understands the critical role Principals and Vice-Principals play in encouraging TEACHERS to innovate in the classroom," said Lance Rougeux, Discovery Education's Vice President of Learning Communities and Innovation. "We are pleased to support this series of Regional Principal Summits. By learning about new resources and technologies, sharing strategies for making the digital transition, and by the connecting to one another, attendees will be poised to return to their schools and create a culture in which educational technologies and digital content can help transform teaching and learning."
