In an interview with USA Today, DANCING WITH THE STARS fan favorite Derek Hough revealed that the upcoming 'All-Star' edition of the show might be his last. The three-time champion shared with USA, "This season is kind of my swan song. It's my last hurrah."
The champion ballroom dancer was interviewed for an article about dancers moving on to film roles. Hough is set to star in the movie 'Cobu' next year and is currently "looking at other projects." He told USA that it has been very difficult to pursue his acting career while still participating on the ABC dance competition.
Said Hough, "It's really difficult to do both, impossible really. This show is full time … there is zero flexibility. And I want to do other projects. I want to push myself into other areas." He added, "And this is my 10th season, a great benchmark. You just kind of feel it. I need to take that chance. It's important."
Adam Shankman, director of the recent film adaptation of 'Rock of Ages', believes Hough has the potential to be a major star on the big screen. "I think he's the next (breakout)," says Shankman. "He feels a moment away to me."
The All-Star line-up of DANCING WITH THE STARS is expected to be announced this afternoon.
