Led by coach Enrique Meza, Pachuca started the tournament on the right foot win a 1-0 win over Cruz Azul at its home stadium, Estadio Azul in Mexico City. This was followed by two losses, and the team is counting on local fans' support to help it recover. "The stadium is going to be full; we'll be playing at home and we have to make the most of this advantage. Guadalajara is a great team and we're going to give it our all," Meza commented before this important match.
Pachuca's veteran goalkeeper, Óscar "Conejo" Pérez, knows that more than three points are at stake in this difficult match. "We have to be well prepared. It's going to be hard, because they have very capable players and good leadership. Both teams want to keep their premiere league status. This game will be vital for avoiding a demotion."
Pachuca "is out to win the championship. With the lineup we have - a combination of young and experienced players - we adapt well to any situation, and that's what it's all about," added midfielder Jorge Hernández, who expressed confidence in the outcome of Saturday's game.
The matchup with Guadalajara comes right after Pachuca's first game and victory in CONCACAF's Championship League against Honduras's Real Club Deportivo España, 4 goals to 1, last August 6.
