As first reported in The Hollywood Reporter, Demi Lovato is in final negotiations to appear as the fourth judge on the upcoming season of Fox's THE X FACTOR. The former Disney star would join Britney Spears as a new judge on the singing competition. The singers would replace Season 1 judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid will return as a judge on the panel along with Simon Cowell.
Sources tell THR that "Lovato's team is in final negotiations for the job." X FACTOR producers are hoping the 19-year-old will attract a younger audience for the show. Her current single, "Give Your Heart a Break," is currently No. 74 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Both Lovato and Spears have been in the tabloid headlines over the years. In 2010, Lovato checked herself into a rehabilitation center for emotional and physical issues related to bulimia and self injury. She was released in January 2011 and has since been seen as a positive role model for teens across the country.
