Demetrius Shipp, Jr. to Portray Tupac Shakur in Upcoming Biopic ALL EYEZ ON ME

Variety reports that Demetrius Shipp, Jr. will take on the role of rap legend Tupac Shakur in the upcoming biopic, ALL EYEZ ON ME. Directed by Benny Boom, the project has been in development since 2011.

Joining Shipp, in the cast will be Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls, a role he portrayed in the 2009 film "Notorious." According to the site, earlier versions of the project's script followed the rapper's "rise to superstardom as a hip hop artist and actor, his imprisonment on charges of sexual assault and the East Coast-West Coast rap war."

Shakur died from gunshot wounds in 1996. He had sold over 75 million albums and his story became the subject of the Broadway musical HOLLER IF YOU HEAR ME.
