LA-based organization Scriptd is presenting a table read of Larry Powell's feature screenplay "The Death of Abi Babatunde" at venue ArtShare LA on Wednesday, May 30th 2018 at 8pm. Scriptd (Scriptd.com) is an organization that connects talented writers with fans and the community to help find, promote and actualize film and TV's next big scripts.
"The Death of Abi Babatunde" is a story about a Black British actor who is living and working in America. Now starring in a movie remake of A Raisin In The Sun, Abi struggles to navigate the social issues that come with that in today's climate. This mini-feature explodes the "Black Brit vs. Black Americans: The Brits are taking our roles" conversation in a wild, black satirical way. In an attempt to somehow mend the fractured bones in a body of people that can only afford to stand tall, together.
Powell is an accomplished writer, producer and actor, having applied his craft in the realms of film as well and off-broadway fare.
