Victoria Theatre Association honors the 50th anniversary of John Frankenheimer's film BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ showing tonight, July 6 through July 8, 2012 at the historic Victoria Theatre. Join us for this celebratory viewing as part of our 2012 Cool Films Series.
BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ tells the story of Robert Stroud, who successfully adopted ornithology while serving a life sentence behind bars. Nominated for four Oscars© including Best Actor for Burt Lancaster's portrayal of Stroud, this film is a fascinating although fictionalized look at Stroud's surprising study of and companionship with birds.What's the best part about the 2012 Cool Films Series (besides FREE popcorn and soda)? Films are shown at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays in the Victoria Theatre. Recreating the feel of the old-time movie palaces, guests may enjoy free popcorn and soda in the lobby beginning one hour prior to showtime, a Mighty Wurlitzer organ concert beginning 30 minutes prior to showtime, and a classic cartoon just before the movie.
