Dave Bautista has been cast in the film adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic science-fiction novel Dune, a new film adaptation of according to Entertainment Weekly.
The film is being directed by Denis Villeneuve. Bautista has worked previously with Villeneuve on Blade Runner 2049. The film's cast currently includes includes Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson. There is no word yet what role Bautista will play in the reboot.
Originally published in 1965, Dune is set in the distant future when the most valuable commodity in the universe is a drug named Melange. The novel has had a previous film adaptation, which was the 1984 David Lynch film starring Kyle MacLachlan and Patrick Stewart.
Bautista is best known for playing Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Avengers: Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. He also recently starred in the action movie Final Score. Before acting, Bautista was a professional wrestler, mixed martial artist, and bodybuilder.
