DOWNTON ABBEY's Dan Stevens has joined The CW's THE TOMORROW PEOPLE - in a limited sense.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor has signed on to play the iconic role of 'TIM,' the robotic mentor. The character was voiced by Philip Gilbert in the original British series from the 1970s.

The series, which stars Robbie Amell, follows a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities - the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson (Amell) stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future.

THE TOMORROW PEOPLE is set to premiere on October 9.

Stevens will be soon be seen on the big screen in The Fifth Estate, a film about WikiLeaks, opposite co-star Benedict Cumberbatch. Other upcoming projects include Summer in February and A Walk Among Tombstones.

Stevens recently made his Broadway debut in THE HEIRESS alongside Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain.
