DWTS Champion J.R. Martinez Invited to the Pentagon

According to Access Hollywood, newly crowned winner of ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS J.R. Martinez has been invited by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to visit him at the Pentagon.  

Martinez is a veteran of the war in Iraq and was severely burned in 2003 when the Humvee he was drivng hit a land mine. After undergoing a series of operations over a three year period, the veteran began a new career as a motivational speaker.  Three years ago he earned a spot on the long running ABC daytime serial, "All My Children".

Defense Secretary Panetta phonEd Martinez last Friday to congratulate him on his victory in the dance competition.  He also commended him for demonstrating "the strength and resilience of wounded veterans."

Martinez and his dance partner Karina Smirnoff were awarded the coveted mirror ball trophy on ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS last Tuesday evening.  Other finalists in the competition included Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake
