Valerie McCaffrey's DIRTY BOMB, one of the great but largely untold stories from WWII, is in competition for Best Short Film at the Madrid International Film Festival. Ido Samuel, the film's star, is up for Best Actor in a Short Film. The film will screen on Thursday, July 26th, at 7:15PM, at the Novotel Madrid Center, Screening Room 1.

The film tells the story of a concentration camp prisoner who sabotages the construction of the V2 Bomb, against the Nazis, thus signing his own death wish. Valerie McCaffrey wrote and directed the film that stars James Babson (THE WORDS), Israeli-born actor Ido Samuel (FILL THE VOID), J. Michael Trautmann (SHAMELESS/LONGMIRE), Dallas Hart (GREENHOUSE ACADEMY), Hunter Doohan (WESTWORLD), Connor Linnerooth (THE REAL DRAKOOLAVS), Clayton Haymes (KILLER UNIVERSITY), Robert Arce (REVERIE) and Stefan Simon (BIRR).

The film was produced by Jennifer Tung, Stefan Simon and Brian Kelly Jones. Executive producers include Peymaneh Rothstein, Emad Asfoury, and Robert Shaye. Mikael Sharafyan was the costume designer. The film's score was composed by Alan Derian (MADAME SECRETARY).

McCaffrey and team are seeking to turn the short into a feature length film, exploring in greater depth scientist Werner Von Braun's past and present relationship with a Jewish prisoner working on the V2 bomb. DIRTY BOMB was in competition at the prestigious 2018 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival and most recently made it's Los Angeles premiere at Dances With Films.

Now in it's 8th year, the Madrid International Film Festival has been an oasis for both emerging filmmakers and content creators, helping them find distribution and funding for their next filmmaking venture.

"I am so honored to be part of amazing festival that encourages equality, diversity, and important stories," says McCaffrey.

Most of McCaffrey's career has been a prominent casting director and studio executive both at Universal Studios and New Line Cinema. She has cast over 100 films, including Oscar nominated film AMERICAN HISTORY X and BABE. Recently, she produced a film called LOST AND FOUND IN ARMENIA with Jamie KENNEDY and Angela Sarafyan, a cancer documentary CANCER, IT'S IN THE SYSTEM in which she co-directed and co-produced with Cindy Pruitt and produced an award-winning film entitled NEO NED, starring Gabrielle Union and Jeremy Renner.

Ido Samuel is best known for playing Yossi in the 2012 Sony Classics film FILL THE VOID. The film won in 7 categories (including Best Picture) at the Israeli Film Academy Awards and was Israel's official submission for the 2012 Oscars. Moreover, FILL THE VOID played in numerous festivals including: Venice, Palm Springs, Telluride, Sundance, and was up for numerous awards at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards.

DIRTY BOMB will screen on Thursday, July 26, 7:15PM, at the Novotel Madrid Center, O'donnell, 53, Madrid, 28009, Spain.
