DEXTER Exec. Producer Sells THE DEFECTIVES, a Female Cop Drama, to ABC

Manny Coto, writer and executive producer of Showtime's hit series, DEXTER, has sold his next project, THE DEFECTIVES, to ABC, The Hollywood Reporter has announced. 

The procedural drama centers around a female internal affairs agent who must rebuild the LAPD's special detective until following a corruption scandal that cripples the department. Without funding or support, she builds up her team of ragtag cops and detectives. ABC has already given a commitment to the script, produced by Sony Television Pictures.

Coto is set to write and executive produce his project, along with Lynda Obst.

In addition to the runaway hit DEXTER, Coto has also written for the Emmy Award Winning series 24, as well as STAR TREK ENTERPRISE.
