TVLine.com reports that Emmy-award winning actress Kathryn Joosten, star of ABC's DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, died of lung cancer in Westlake Village, CA on Friday, June 1. She was 72. According to a spokesman, Joosten was surrounded by family at the time of her death.
The actress received her Emmy awards in 2005 and 2008 in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of Karen McCluskey on the ABC drama series.
Joosten was also well known for her role of Mrs. Landingham, secretary to Martin Sheen’s President Bartlet, on The West Wing. She also appeared on TV in Scrubs, My Name Is Earl, Joan of Arcadia, and Dharma & Greg.
