According to The Hollywood Reporter, a September 10 retrial date has been set for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES actress Nicollette Sheridan's court case against ABC.
A Los Angeles Superior Court jury was not able to reach a verdict in March in the first trial. Sheridan claims that she was inappropriately hit by Cherry during the filming of a scene on the ABC drama series. She explained how she later received a letter from ABC's human resources department informing her that no action would be taken after she complained about the incident. The actress testified in the first trial, “I thought it was an appalling, outrageous lie."
The actress went on to tell the court that a month later, during a sexual harassment training session, she decided not to bring up the incident because "Quite frankly I was afraid of being retaliated against. I wasn’t sure what the HR department or what any HR department really was.”
Attorneys for Sheridan had requested that Judge Elizabeth Allen White impose sanctions on ABC attorneys for their conduct during the first trial. That request was denied today during a hearing in the downtown courthouse.
