Cynthia Nixon to Play Recurring Role on NBC's HANNIBAL Season 2

TVLine reports that Tony winner and small screen veteran Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City) will play a recurring role on NBC's Hannibal season 2.

She will join the cast as 'Kade Prurnell', who works as an FBI overseer in The Office of the Inspector General and is investigating Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne) involvement in what happened during the thriller's first season.

Nixon is currently working on the film A Quiet Passion. Her recent TV credits -- beyond her longtime portrayal of 'Miranda Hobbes' on Sex and the City -- include the miniseries World Without End, 30 Rock and The Big C.

A noted stage performer, Nixon has appeared on Broadway in Wit, for which she was nominated for a 2012 Tony, Rabbit Hole, for which she won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play, Children And Art, The Women, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Indiscretions, for which she earned a Tony nomination in 1996, Angels in America: Perestroika and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, The Heidi Chronicles, Hurlyburly, The Real Thing and The Philadelphia Story, as well as many off-Broadway theatre productions.

HANNIBAL is based on the characters created by author Thomas Harris in his novel "Red Dragon," was one of the best-reviewed series of the past season. Hugh Dancy plays criminal profiler Will Graham while Mads Mikkelsen plays psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
