Costumes & Props from 1996's Musical Film EVITA to Be Auctioned Off Next Month

Reuters reports that costumes and jewelry worn by Madonna in the big screen adaptation of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical EVITA will be among the items auctioned at Julien's of Beverly HIlls next month.

The more than 140 items from Madonna's life and career are expected to bring in a combined total of up to $500,000 in the two-day in-house and online auction beginning Nov. 7. Said Julian's executive director Martin Nolan, "This is the biggest collection of Madonna items ever to come to auction at one time."

Included in the EVITA memorabilia will be the inauguration dress Madonna wore when she portrayed Eva Peron, the first lady of Argentina as well as the beaded, ivory gown from the 1996 musical film.

The musical drama film based on Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical of the same name tells the story of Eva Perón. Directed by Alan Parker and written by Parker and Oliver Stone, the film starred Madonna, Antonio Banderas, and Jonathan Pryce. The film was released on December 25, 1996 by Hollywood Pictures and Cinergi Pictures and was a box office success.
