ContactMusic.com has confirmed BroadwayWorld's previous speculation that Tina Fey and Oscar Winner Meryl Streep are set to star in a new film directed by Standley Tucci entitled 'Mommy And Me.' There is no word yet as to whether Tucci will also act in the film.
There is no information as to plot at this time except that the film will center around the complexities of a mother-daughter relationship.
Meryl Streep made her professional stage debut in 1971's THE PLAYBOY OF SEVILLE, and her screen debut came in the made-for-television movie 'The Deadliest Season' in 1977. In that same year, she made her film debut with 'Julia.' Both critical and commercial success came soon with roles in 'The Deer Hunter' and 'Kramer vs. Kramer,' the former giving Streep her first Oscar nomination and the latter her first win. She later won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in 'Sophie's Choice' in 1982.
Streep has received 16 Academy Award nominations, winning two, and 25 Golden Globe nominations, winning seven, more nominations than any other actor in the history of either award. Her work has also earned her two Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Cannes Film Festival award, four New York Film Critics Circle Awards, five Grammy Award nominations, a BAFTA award, an Australian Film Institute Award, and a Tony Award nomination.
Stanley Tucci is an Emmy Award and Golden Globe winning actor who has appeared in over 50 films. In 2009, Stanley was seen in Julie & Julia, opposite Meryl Streep. He received Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for his performance in The Lovely Bones, which was released this month. Stanley also starred in Blind Date which he co-wrote and directed. As an actor, he is a stage veteran and made his Broadway debut in The Queen and the Rebels opposite Colleen Dewhurst and went on to star in The Misanthrope, Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Iceman Cometh, and in his Tony Award- nominated turn in Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune. His film directing credits include Big Night, The Impostors and Joe Gould's Secret. Mr. Tucci made his Broadway directorial debut with Lend Me a Tenor.
Tina Fey is an American actress, comedian, writer and producer. She has received seven Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four Writers Guild of America Awards. She was singled out as the performer who had the greatest impact on culture and entertainment in 2008 by the Associated Press, who gave her their AP Entertainer of the Year award. She's well known for her performance as Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live" as well as her roles in films like Mean Girls and Baby Mama. She also created the television show "30 Rock."
