According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel's Comic-Con panelists just confirmed that Lucy Lawless, of Xena and Battlestar Galactica, will join the cast of Marvel's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., which BroadwayWorld.com previously reported.
Regarding Lawless's character, executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen revealed to Comic-Con attendees, "She's tough. She may have a knife that's always by her side." Her character will be an experienced S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran.
Other new additions include the thusfar unknown British actor Nick Blood and Reed Diamond (Homicide: Life on the Street). Blood will be playing a mercenary whose help is Enlisted by Gregg's character, Agent Phil Coulson, and Diamond will play, as executive producer Jed Whedon calls him, "one of our Hyda baddies."
At this time, no information on the length of Lawless's appearance on the second season of ABC's series has been confirmed.

The cast includes Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons
Executive producers are Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
