According to AllThingsD, Katie Couric will be named as 'Global News Anchor' for Yahoo! on Monday, giving her a high-profile interview show that'll be featured on the portal's homepage. No word yet on the specific timing, when her ABC show will end, and how she will make the transition from TV to web.

Digital watchers are also curious as to how Couric, will make the transition to the new medium, and how, or if it'll differ from her previous TV content.

The Hollywood Reporter reported yesterday, the veteran broadcast journalist is currently negotiating an amicable Exit from from the network and her nationally Syndicated talk show. This year, the number of pieces Couric has contributed to ABC News has drastically dropped off. Following the break, Couric will reportedly move to Yahoo, "finalizing an extensive deal" for her own interview show, sources have confirmed to THR and Deadline. ABC and Yahoo regularly share content, per a 2011 deal.

"Katie is an incredible journalist and this was an opportunity that she couldn't pass up," a source told THR. "Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime"

As previously reported, Couric's talk show, KATIE, will most likely be canceled this winter, with ratings on the decline. "They realize it will never be a success and ratings are down drastically from last season," a source recently told the New York Daily News. "The ABC development team has been working nonstop on new talk show pilots and are looking at high-profile names to replace her, hopefully by January."

KATIE, now in its sophomore season, has recently taken on a more 'gossipy' slant in a network effort to attract more viewers. The former anchor has reportedly not been happy with the direction the show has been heading, and has been "sniffing around" for other opportunities in recent months.

Couric joined the Disney/ABC Television Group in Summer 2011 and serves as special correspondent for ABC News, contributing to ABC World News, Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, This Week and Primetime news specials. Since September 2012, she has hosted the Syndicated daytime talk show, Katie.

In September 2006, Couric became the first female solo anchor of an evening news broadcast. Couric served as anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric until May 2011. She also was a contributor to 60 Minutes, CBS Sunday Morning and CBS News Primetime specials. On May 31, 2006, Couric completed a 15-year run as co-anchor of NBC News' TODAY show. In October 2011, the Wall Street Journal called Couric of the "most successful anchors ever" at the TODAYshow.

Couric is a tireless cancer advocate. She is co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), co-founder of the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA) with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) and Lilly Tartikoff, and founder of the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health.

Born in Arlington, Virginia, Couric graduated with honors from the University of Virginia in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in English and a focus on American studies. She lives in New York with her two daughters.
