Stand-Up Month comes to a hilarious close when Al Madrigal debuts his first Comedy Central one-hour stand-up special, Al Madrigal: Why is the Rabbit Crying? premiering tonight, April 26 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Celebrated stand-up comedian, "The Daily Show with
Jon Stewart" correspondent, and LA family man Madrigal brings his unstoppable storytelling
Style to The Moody Theater in Austin, telling the hilarious true tales of Coach Frankie, the Cholo soccer dad; a fun afternoon with "
Liam Neeson," the cleaning lady; and the joys of parenting.
The "Al Madrigal: Why is the Rabbit Crying?" extended and uncensored CD/DVD combo will be released on April 30, featuring material not seen in the broadcast, as well as an outstanding collection of bonus features: Madrigal's half-hour special "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Al Madrigal," with audio commentary from Madrigal and Louis Katz; Madrigal's appearance on COMEDY CENTRAL's "Shorties Watchin' Shorties;" and one of Madrigal's field specials from "The Daily Show," a piece on Tucson's Mexican-American studies ban. "Al Madrigal: Why is the Rabbit Crying?" will be available on April 30 in HD and SD on iTunes, Xbox Video Marketplace, Sony PlayStation Store, Amazon Instant Video and Vudu.
Leading up to the on-air premiere,
COMEDY CENTRAL Stand-Up will feature preview clips from the special, along with an exclusive excerpt from the DVD. Madrigal will also engage with
Comedy Central fans via a
CC Tumblr "Ask a Professional Comedian," and will live tweet the premiere of the special from
@almadrigal.
Named "Best Stand-Up Comedian" by HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Madrigal is a regular contributor on the EMMY Award-winning "The Daily Show with
Jon Stewart" on COMEDY CENTRAL. He has been seen in numerous network series roles and starred in his own half-hour stand-up special, "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Al Madrigal." Most recently, Madrigal shot the
NBC pilot "About a Boy" in which he co-starred with
Minnie Driver and
David Walton. His network television credits also include "Welcome to the Captain" with
Jeffrey Tambor and "Gary Unmarried" on CBS. Additionally, Madrigal was the series lead in "The Ortegas" for
FOX and starred opposite
Martin Short in "The Tax Men."
Madrigal's late-night television appearances include "Conan," "The Tonight Show," "Lopez Tonight," "The Late Late Show with
Craig Ferguson," "Chelsea Lately," and "
Jimmy Kimmel Live." He also has appeared on COMEDY CENTRAL's "
John Oliver's New York Stand-up Show" and "
