Comedy Central and Open Road Films have reached an agreement for a film package that includes the first window broadcast premiere of Marlon Wayans' new blockbuster comedy "A Haunted House" and Dax Shepard's "Hit & Run," it was announced today by David Bernath, Executive Vice President, Program Strategy and Multiplatform Programming, Comedy Central and Rand Stoll, Head of TV Sales for Open Road Films.
"We are excited to have formed what we hope to be a lasting partnership with Open Road Films," said Bernath.
Stoll stated, "COMEDY CENTRAL is the perfect home for 'A Haunted House' and 'Hit & Run' and we are thrilled to be in business with them on these and hopefully future titles."
The agreement was negotiated on behalf of
Comedy Central by Susie Kricena, Vice President, Acquisitions, COMEDY CENTRAL. Stoll negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films. The first position window for "A Haunted House" will begin March 2015 and will be exclusive to all Viacom Media Networks and the first position window of "Hit & Run" will begin November 2014.
Descriptions of the films follow:
"A HAUNTED HOUSE"
In an outrageous send-up of the "Paranormal Activity" movies, "The Devil Inside" and other "found footage" movies, "A Haunted House" features young couple Malcolm (
Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins) who have just moved into their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they are not alone. But it is not the house that's haunted, it is Malcolm's girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship...or, more importantly, his sex life.
"HIT & RUN"
From the producer of "Wedding Crashers," and written, directed by and starring comic talent Dax Shepard (NBC's "Parenthood"), "Hit & Run" is the story of Charlie Bronson (Shepard), a nice guy with a questionable past who risks everything when he busts out of the witness protection program to deliver his fiancée (
Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles to seize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Their road trip grows awkwardly complicated when they are chased by the feds (led by
Tom Arnold)... and increasingly dangerous when Charlie's former pals, a band of gangsters (led by
Bradley Cooper), enter the fray.
