TVGuide.com reports that Cissy Whitney, mother of the late Whitney Houston has signed a book deal to write a book about her daughter. The book is currently untitled and is described as "unabridged and unbelievable story." The project will include such topics as her rollercoaster marriage to singer Bobby Brown and the singer's well documented drug use. It will be released by HarperCollins in February of 2013.
In a statement Houston explained, "When I lost my daughter Nippy [her nickname for Whitney], the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman. In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter's true story."
A portion of the proceeds from the book's sales will go to Whitney's childhood church, New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. The church served as the site of the singer's funeral in February.
Houston death at age 48 was caused by an accidental drowning, but cocaine use and heart disease were also contributing factors.
