According to EWonline, actor Christopher Meloni is set to become a series regular on Season 5 of the HBO hit drama, 'True Blood'. According to the report, the actor will take on the role of an "ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands."
Meloni has previously starred on the HBO series 'Oz' from 1998 to 2003. In 1999 he stepped into the role of Detective Elliot Stabler on the long running NBC series, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". Pairing with co-star Mariska Hargitay on the show, Meloni was nominated for an Emmy award for his dynamic appearance as the tough crime fighter. Earlier in 2011, the actor announced he would be leaving the show in order to pursue other acting opportunities.
Meloni's stage credits include the starring role of Eddie Carbone in the Gate Theatre's production of 'A View from the Bridge' as well as the role of Bill Starbuck in the 'The Rainmaker' at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
