On Saturday, September 23rd, the 2017 Global Citizen Festival will air LIVE on MSNBC from The Great Lawn in New York City's Central Park. MSNBC's Global Citizen pre-show featuring global leaders, activists, musicians and celebrity hosts will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET/PT and the Festival commences at 4:00 p.m. ET/PT.
MSNBC's Chris Hayes and Joy Reid will host the network's exclusive broadcast of the Festival. This will be
MSNBC and Comcast -NBCUNIVERSAL's fourth consecutive live simulcast of the Festival as premier media partner which will be available to view on
MSNBC and
MSNBC.com/GlobalCitizen.
MSNBC correspondents Jacob Soboroff and Savannah Sellers will serve as an on-the-ground co-hosts for the live coverage.
The event will be headlined by Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers, and The Lumineers, featuring The Chainsmokers. Special guest performances will be given by Pharrell Williams, Big Sean, Andra Day, and AlessiaCara. This year's Festival will be hosted by Hugh Jackman & Deborra-lee Furness, Priyanka Chopra, Demi Lovato, Connie Britton, Dianna Agron, Aaron Paul, Serge Ibaka, Mark Cuban, Lupita Nyong'o, Bridget Moynahan, and more.
During the festival, 60,000 Global Citizens will convene in Central Park to hold world leaders accountable for their commitments to help end extreme poverty by 2030. This year, fans and activists earned free tickets to the Festival by participating in three Action Journeys: For Freedom, For Justice, For All. Since the first Action Journey launch, Global Citizens have taken more than a million actions on behalf of the world's poor.
As a part of an effort to support the Global Citizen mission of providing access to safe drinking water to people around the world,
MSNBC and Comcast-NBCUniversal are making free, fresh drinking water and commemorative reusable water bottles available to Global Citizen Festival attendees.
MSNBC will air a live simulcast of the full concert on MSNBC and MSNBC.com/GlobalCitizenand in the NBCNews App on OTT devices (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire).
