Those who watched Wednesday night's episode of American Idol closely might have noticed that Chris Golightly was mysteriously missing from the group of top 12 guys at the end of the program, despite being announced as a semi-finalist minutes before. A recent press release from FOX states, "It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition." American Idol contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24."

GoLightly recently spoke with USA Today saying, "This is not fair; I don't know what to do." GoLightly was told he was ineligible for "Idol" due to his failure to release information regarding a contract he may or may not have been under at the time of his audition.

GoLightly said he has tried contacting the producers of "Idol," but thus far has been unsuccessful. "Since [I was kicked off], I've left them voicemails, but they've screened my calls," Chris says. "They don't even answer me. Nobody."

Soon after this news was revealed, host Ryan Seacrest posted the same statement on his Twitter page. He also announced that this year's contestants will have MySpace, Twitter and Facebook pages on the Idol hub for the first time. Seacrest did not elaborate on why Golightly was booted, though Chris has since talked to Joe's Place Blog, claiming that the disqualification occurred because he was unable to show proof that he was released from a previous contract he had with a performing group.

Golightly, a 25-year-old shoe salesman from Los Angeles, CA, will be replaced by Tim Urban, a 20-year-old college student from Duncanville, TX.
