GLEE might not be back in full swing until Septeber, but cast member Chris Colfer is already brainstorming possible future guest stars. Colfer told ShowbizSpy: "I just want Julie Andrews in it, that's all. I just want Julie Andrews to come and play my grandmother and then I'd be happy. That's all I need."
Andrews made her Broadway debut in 1954 with The Boy Friend, and rose to prominence starring in other musicals such as My Fair Lady and Camelot, and in musical films such as Mary Poppins (1964), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, and The Sound of Music (1965). She has starred in films such as The Princess Diaries (2001), its sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004), the Shrek animated films (2004-2010), and Despicable Me (2010).
The multi-generational phenomenon that has inspired millions to embrace their inner-Gleek brings them together to experience Glee a whole new way, with Glee: The 3D Concert Movie,produced by Ryan Murphy and directed by Kevin Tancharoen. The film features Glee's cast performing their biggest hits live with a world class backing band as well as documenting the ultra successful Glee Live! In Concert! tour, which will have a limited two week theatrical run beginning August 12th.
To date the studio recorded versions of the 23 songs appearing in Glee The 3D Concert Movie (Motion Picture Soundtrack) have sold over 5.7 million tracks. To date over 33 million Glee songs have been digitally downloaded, with over 10 million albums sold worldwide. Glee scored three consecutive #1 releases with Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers, Glee: The Music, The Power of Madonna and Glee: The Music, Journey To Regionals. The RIAA has certified Glee: The Music, Volume 1 Platinum (sales in excess of 1 million units) as well asGlee: The Music, Volume 2, Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers and Glee: The Music, Volume 4 Gold (sales in excess of 500,000 units).
Glee makes its return to primetime on Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT on September 20th on Fox.
