The New York Post reports that UK pop star Cheryl Cole has been approached by Fremantle and 19 Entertainment executives, the producers behind FOX's AMERICAN IDOL, to either sit beside or possibly replace current IDOL judge Jennifer Lopez.

The two actresses currently co-star in the film, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting," with Cole making a cameo appearance as a judge of a talent competition in the opening scene. Says a source, “It will be interesting to see how Jennifer deals with another beautiful woman sitting alongside her."

Lopez currently rakes in $22 million for her judging duties. She has hinted that she may not return to IDOL when filming begins on Season 12 in late August.

Commenting on the possible salary the UK star could earn on the show, a source said, “She’s more in the [X FACTOR judge] Demi Lovato range — $5 million to $10 million." Cole had appeared in the first episodes of X FACTOR USA before being fired by Simon Cowell due to her lack of stage presence and thick British accent.
