EWonline reports that recording artist Cee Lo Green is set to appear as a guest star on the TV Land series THE SOUL MAN. The 'Voice' judge will portray a rival pastor to Cedric the Entertainer's character. Green is currently in the process of penning a memoir and working on multiple albums in the studio but he will take a break from his busy schedule to film the guest spot this week.
THE SOUL MAN features Cedric the Entertainer in the role of Reverend Boyce, a former R&B star, and Niecy Nash as his wife Lolli. Green's character, a rival preacher, will be out to steal members of Boyce's church away from him.
THE SOUL MAN is a new TV Land series which made its debut on June 20. The show centers on Boyce as "he moves home to St. Louis with his family to preach at his father’s church where his clan has to adjust to their new, humble life." It is a spin-off of the network's hit comedy 'Hot in Cleveland', in which the character of Boyce first appeared in April of 2011 in an episode titled "Bridezelka". 'Hot in Cleveland' stars Betty White, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Valerie Bertinelli.
Soul Man producers include Cleveland producers SuzAnne Martin, Todd Milliner, and Sean Hayes, along with Cedric the Entertainer. The show's first season will see a host of celebrity guest stars including Anthony Anderson, Tamar Braxton, Trina Braxton, Kim Coles, Robert Forster, and Sherri Shepherd.
