usa network has tapped Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight," "Miss You Already") to direct the first two episodes of the new drama series EYEWITNESS. From Universal Cable Productions (UCP), the US adaptation of the successful Norwegian crime thriller (original title "Øyevitne") explores a grisly crime from the point of view of the eyewitness. Scott Peters ("V," "THE 4400") joins Adi Hasak (Creator, "Shades of Blue") and Jarl Emsell Larsen as Executive Producer. Peters will also direct multiple episodes of the 10-episode series. The drama will be adapted for American television by Hasak.

An established filmmaker, Hardwicke most recently directed "Miss You Already," starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette, which premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival. She made her directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed film "Thirteen" and continued working on well-known blockbusters such as "Twilight," which launched the worldwide blockbuster franchise "The Twilight Saga" and earned nearly $400 million at the worldwide box office. Additional credits include "Red Riding Hood," "Lords of Dogtown," and "The Nativity Story." Television credits include "Hell On Wheels," "Low Winter Sun," and the pilot of "Reckless." Hardwicke is represented by Rowena Arguelles and Ann Blanchard at CAA and Dan Halsted at Manage-ment.

Emmy® Award nominated Peters co-created and executive produced "The 4400" as well as the reboot of the classic sci-fi series "V." Peters has a long history of directing multiple television series including "The 4400," "Burn Notice," and most recently "Queen of the South." Additional directorial credits include "Colony" and the written adaptation of bestselling author Michael Koryta's novel "The Ridge." Peters is represented by Rothman Brecher, Andrea Simon Entertainment and attorney Neil Meyer.

EYEWITNESS delves into the lives of two innocent teenaged boys after they secretly meet up in the forest, bear witness to a shooting and barely escape with their lives. Desperate to keep their relationship a secret and in fear of being found by the perpetrator, they remain silent but soon learn that what has been seen cannot be unseen and when you witness a horrible event it changes everything, forever. The series will begin production in Canada later this year and is set to premiere in 2016 on USA.
