GuardianLV.com reports that Tim Burton may be in the process of creating a reboot of the Walt Disney classic MARY POPPINS. The film is rumored to star Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett as the beloved nanny and Sam Riley as Bert, the chimney sweep.

Burton, who helmed the 2010 remake of Disney's 'Alice in Wonderland' starring Johnny Depp, is currently directing 'Big Eyes,' set to hit theaters this winter.

Though the project remains completely unconfirmed, a poster announcing the film has made its way across the Internet in recent days. While the image is most probably fan-made, it features Blanchett as Poppins on a classic cobblestone street of Old London with flying umbrellas in the background. The eerie grey tones of the poster reflect Burton's signature style.

Reports on the film reveal that the newest incarnation will not be a remake of the musical version starring Julie Andrews as the caretaker of the Banks' children. Instead, the new adaptation will be based on the original series of children's novels written by the late P.L. Travers. Travers' life was brought to the big screen in 2013's Saving Mr. Banks, starring Emma Thompson as the British author and Tom Hanks, as her adversary Walt Disney.

Stay tuned for more details!
