Netflix, the world's leading internet TV network, announced that principal photography began this week in ROME on its first Italian original series, SUBURRA, which will premiere globally on Netflix in 2017.
The series is written by Daniele Cesarano and Barbara Petronio with Ezio Abbate, Fabrizio Bettelli and Nicola Guaglianone and directed by Michele Placido (Romanzo Criminale, Vallanzasca - Angels of Evil), Andrea Molaioli (The Girl by the Lake) and Giuseppe Capotondi (The Double Hour). Suburra, based on the fascinating and successful novel written by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini, takes inspiration from a real political SCANDAL that broke out in the Italian capital. Suburra is however a prequel, set a few years before the real events took place. Church, politics, organized crime, local gangs and real estate developers collide and blur the lines between the legal and the illicit and their quest for power is the overriding theme in this unique crime thriller. The main cast includes Francesco Acquaroli (Pasolini) as Samurai, Alessandro Borghi (Suburra, Don't Be Bad) as Number 8, Adamo Dionisi (Suburra) as Manfredi Anacleti, Giacomo Ferrara (Suburra) as Spadino Anacleti, Claudia Gerini (The Passion of the Christ, Don't Move) as Sara Monaschi, Filippo Nigro (Facing Windows, A.C.A.B) as Amedeo Cinaglia and Eduardo Valdarnini (Something New) as Lele Marchilli.Videos
