A musical performance by the Tony® Award-nominated cast of Broadway's ONCE are among the guests MAY 14-18 on ABC's "The View".
ONCE currently plays on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street). The production opened to raves on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
ONCE features a book by award-winning Irish playwright & screenwriter, Enda Walsh (Penelope, Hunger, The New Electric Ballroom), the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, direction by the acclaimed John Tiffany (Black Watch),movement by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch, American Idiot) and music supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia!).
ONCE is the celebrated new musical based on the Academy Award-winning film. It tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together. Brought to the stage by an award-winning team of visionary artists and featuring an ensemble cast of gifted actor/musicians, ONCE is described as "a musical celebration of life and love: thrilling in its originality, daring in its honesty... and unforgettable in every way."
ONCE was originally developed at the American Repertory Theater (Cambridge, Massachusetts) in April 2011; Diane Paulus, Artistic Director; Diane Borger, Producer.
Additional guests on next week's The View will include President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. The President will be the featured guest, TUESDAY, MAY 15 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET). President Obama's exclusive appearance is part of the show's continuing "Red, White & View" campaign, which is committed to political guests and discussions. President Obama's historic visit to "The View" on July 28, 2010 was broadcast on ABC on July 29 and marked the first time a sitting President had visited a daytime talk show. President Obama was also a featured guest on "The View" in March 2008 and November 2004.
Other guests include Jenna Ushkowitz ("Glee"), Susan Lucci ("Army Wives"), Judy Sheindlin ("Judge Judy"), Arsenio Hall ("Celebrity Apprentice"), Betty White ("Betty White's Off Their Rockers"), Robin Roberts (ABC's "Good Morning America" and author, My Story, My Song), Marc Cherry (executive producer, ABC's "Desperate Housewives") and a musical performance the Tony® Award-nominated cast of Broadway's "Once" are among the guests MAY 14-18 on "The View" (live weekdays; 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET; broadcast live in stereo; CLOSED-CAPTIONED; TV-14).
