Cannes 2014 Winner WINTER SLEEP to Screen Tomorrow at LACMA

The LA Turkish Film Festival has announced that WINTER SLEEP, the 2014 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or Awardee, will screen Tuesday, May 5th, 2015 at the Bing Theater of LACMA. The festival's opening film, presented in collaboration with Film Independent at LACMA, will feature a Q&A before the screening with director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, to be moderated by American film critic Elvis Mitchell.

In attendance for the screening will also be Michelle Satter, Founding Director, Feature Film Program - Sundance Film Festival and Turkish actress Saadet Aksoy (TWICE BORN, THE REBOUND).

A master class with Ceylan (presented in collaboration with UCLA) will follow on May 7th.

In WINTER SLEEP, Aydin, a former actor, runs a small hotel in central Anatolia with his young wife Nihal, with whom he has a stormy relationship, and his sister Necla, who is suffering from her recent divorce. In winter as the snow begins to fall, the hotel turns into a shelter but also an inescapable place that fuels their animosities.

"We had a great selection of Turkish films to be screened during May in Los Angeles. We are looking forward to presenting them in the heart of world cinema," said Cenk Erturk, Festival Director.

The listing of other screenings will be announced during May on the Festival website: www.latff.org. Celebration of Turkish Cinema by The LA Turkish Film Festival runs throughout the month of May.

Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival is celebrating 100th year of the Turkish cinema. During May, every weekend there will be screenings of internationally awarded Turkish films at different movie theaters around Los Angeles.
