Yesterday, former olympian Bruce Jenner introduced himself as 'Caitlyn Jenner' in the July issue of Vanity Fair. In the issue, Jenner chats with author Buzz Bissinger about his decision to undergo a procedure to become a woman.
In addition, Caitlyn launched an official Twitter account, sharing a photo of the Vanity Fair photo shoot and the caption: "I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me."
Just four hours after the account became active, it quickly amassed over 1 million followers, breaking the record as the fastest account to hit 1 million. Upon hearing the news, Jenner posted, "Another Jenner world record, and at 65? Who'da thought! Humbled & honored to have reached 1M followers in 4 hrs. Thank you for your support."
Among those supporters sending their best wishes to Jenner was President Obama, the previous holder of the Twitter record, who tweeted: "It takes courage to share your story."
