"Curiosity, Adventure & Love", the inspiring true story of Jessie Lichauco, a 105-year-old American woman who journeyed to the Philippines alone in the 1930s at age 18, will make its local debut at the 13th Annual LA Femme International Film Festival, October 19-22, 2017.

Directed and produced by Philippine media star Sunshine Lichauco de Leon (granddaughter of Jessie), and international documentary film producer Suzanne Richiardone, the documentary weaves together the history of the country that she witnessed and the insights and wisdom of a woman whose indomitable spirit has been an inspiration for the thousands who have known her.

"Curiosity, Adventure, & Love" is a the story of a young American woman who leaves her country and all security behind to begin an adventure in the Philippines that would witness the birth of a nation, a cruel war and occupation and reconstruction.

Richiardone says, "Jessie is a striking personality, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN Scarlett O'Hara and Amelia Earhart, who knew no boundaries and flew far ahead of her times, without regard to sex or society."

Lichauco de Leon felt a deeper reason for making the documentary about her amazing grandmother. "The wisdom she has accumulated over a century of life has tremendous relevance in today's fast-changing world, where people are more connected and more isolated from each other, perhaps now more than ever. It is my hope that her story will remind people of what we have in common and inspire them to be more compassionate to each other."

The film has received many accolades at a number of international film festivals including Special Jury Prize at the Film Festival Philippines, Excellence Award winner at Docs Without Borders Film Festival, Best Documentary at the SOHO International Film Festival and Best Documentary Feature at the NYLA International Film Festival.

The film will be shown on Oct. 20, 8:00 pm in Venue 2 at the Regal Theater 14 at the LA Staples Center, located at 1000 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or reserved online at www.lafemme.org/tickets.
