For its June edition, CUNY TV's ASIAN AMERICAN LIFE series presents stories about the adoption of Asians in America and profiles adoption service Also Known As; features basketball superstar Jason Brickman; and looks at entertainment giant Broadway Asia. Hosted by Ernabel Demillo from The Noguchi Museum's Sculpture Garden in Long Island City/Queens, the new episode premieres Friday, June 6 (2014) (*see below) and is available for viewing 24/7 on www.cuny.tv . Kyung Yoon, Paul Lin and Tinabeth Piña contribute reports.

ADOPTION "ALSO KNOWN AS"

ASIAN AMERICAN LIFE takes an in-depth look at adoption and how today's international adoptees have blended into their new families in the United States. Profiled is Also Known As, a New York non-profit that provides adoption services, educational programs and community building activities for international and national adoptees of Asian descent. Guests include adoptees Marissa Martin (also VP of Also Known As), Jared Rehberg, Annabel Schlossberg, and parent Bryn Meehan, who adopted Annabel from Korea in the early 80's.

BASKETBALL SUPERSTAR JASON BRICKMAN

Long Island University basketball player Jason "Brick" Brickman is a point guard who broke a record with 1,000 assists - only three other players have done this in the history of the NCAA Division 1 basketball. Could Brickman be the next Jeremy Lin and be recruited into the NBA or overseas? Interviewed are Brickman, and his LIU Blackbirds Coach Jack Perri.

BROADWAY ASIA

America's Broadway musicals - like Tony Award®-winning shows The Producers, The Sound Of Music and The Lion King - are taking Asia by storm, re-interpreted for the Asian market with all-Asian casts singing in various dialects. Interviewed about this phenomenon is Marc Routh, co-founder of The Broadway Asia Company, a key producer and supplier of these shows. Excerpts from a variety of musicals with Asian casts are shown.

*Broadcast and cablecast at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm; repeated Sunday 6/8 at noon; Friday 6/20 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm; and Sunday 6/22 at noon on CUNY TV. CUNY TV is broadcast over-the-air in the tri-state area on Ch. 25.3, and cablecast in the five boroughs of New York City on Ch. 75 (Time Warner and Cablevision/Optimum), Ch. 77 (RCN) and Ch. 30 (Verizon FiOS). On and after June 6, the program can also be viewed online anytime on www.cuny.tv.
