Ken Jeong has set his first comedy special, and CRAZY RICH ASIANS director Jon M. Chu is set to direct it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hangover star was most recently seen in the breakout hit Crazy Rich Asians, which earned a massive $35 million in its five-day debut and then added another $24.8 million in its second weekend. In total, the romantic comedy has earned $80 million domestically in just two weeks.
The special is tentatively titled Ken Jeong: First Date, and Jeong will reflect on his journey from doctor to comedy star, and will open up about how his wife's battle with breast cancer led to him starring in The Hangover.
Filming for the special will occur at the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, California, where Jeong first got his start in comedy, on September 15th.
The NETFLIX SPECIAL will premiere in 2019.
Jeong spoke about the news saying, "I am thrilled to work with Jon again, and his brilliant cinematic eye will capture the energy and excitement of my first stand-up special."
Jeong was one of the stars in Chu's "Crazy Rich Asians. His TV credits includeCommunity and ABC's Dr. Ken, which he created, exec produced, wrote and starred in.
