Britney Spears confirmed today that she will not be returning for another season of Fox's THE X FACTOR. After weeks of rumors, she finally put them to bed, releasing the following statement:

"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it's time for me to get back in the studio," said Spears. Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back Out There and do what I love most."

In addition, Spears also says that she is, "is very interested in a Vegas residency, and is in serious talks with one of the major casino groups."

As BWW TV World previously reported, rumors had surfaced that Spears was going to be fired from the singing competition because the producers felt she didn't earn the hefty $15 million salary she had demanded. According to sources, they had already chosen a replacement judge who may be announced in the next week or so.

In a recent interview, Fox's Kevin Reilly shared that the network was pleased with Britney's performance on the show. "I thought it went very, very well," Reilly said. "It was fraught with unknowns, and I think Britney did a very good job. People are fascinated with her and always will be. Last year the ratings were a little bit higher, but I think it was a better show this year. I think she tucked in really nicely on the bench."

Spears apparently disagreed.

With L.A. Reid also departing, it's unclear if Cowell will keep Demi Lovato, the last remaining judge on the panel, for next season.
